Filled with jargon and strategies that seem complicated, but it can be easily understood by learning from those in the field, with tips and the right message. Its about reaching the right people by targeting and consistency to turn them into a loyal customer to what you have to offer. Whether you are launching your own business or if you're just curious about how processes work, here's a friendly guide that breaks down the essentials of the process to make it simple, with easy to understand steps. Now lets unlock the potential of your power to market and watch your ideas unfold…..
Marketing is about connections and finding those that have a need for something you can offer. I have laid out some fundamental concepts that you can digest easily. From knowing who your customer is to crafting a strategic marketing plan. Now let's get you acquainted and build your confidence…
Let's start by asking “what is marketing?”. It is the process of promotion and sales of products and/or services, including research and learning to advertise. You must understand the customers' needs, create products and/or services that meet their needs, and then communicate the value effectively by way of ads and word of mouth. Before anything can become successful you must understand who your customers are and what they are looking for. By practicing and using market research techniques you can identify consumers by their preferences, behaviors, and demographics. Some other reliable sources are interviews, surveys, and data analysis.
Popular ins-and-outs are topics in marketing such as “The 4 P’s of Marketing”, a term heard often in the space:
Product: What are you selling?
Price: How much will you charge and your pricing strategies?
Place: Where and how will your product be distributed and sold?
Promotion: How will you communicate with your audience? example: advertising. social media, and public relations
Lets move on to common marketing channels, using various channels to reach your customers.
Digital Marketing like websites, social media, email, SEO(Search Engine Optimization), and online ads.
Traditional Marketing like TV, print ads, billboards, and radios
Content marketing like Blogs, and content like videos to attract consumers.
Direct Marketing like emails, direct mail, and telemarketing
So let's move forward… Creating a marketing plan that outlines your goals, strategies, target audience, and your budget. This will serve as your road map to execute the marketing activities you use that will measure the success you gain. Branding is the creation of your unique identity and the image of your business. Creating a strong brand that builds trust from your consumers, and recognition that will bring a loyal customer base. Keeping an eye on your KPIs(Key Performance Indicators) which are your sales growth, social media engagement, website traffic, and conversion rates will help you not only measure how you are doing but evaluate things you may need to tweak and adjust for making positive business decisions.
Here's a quick To-Do list:
Start small and focus on audience and what they need
Use clear and easy messaging
Testing different strategies and measure from there
Stay consistent with your brands voice
Keep learning and growing from what you learn
Utilization of keywords is extremely important. Add them in your topic heading, subheadings of the first 100 words of a piece you are writing, as well as your last paragraph or conclusion. For example in the heading title use primary key words like “Marketing for Dummies.. Subheading will highlight key concepts like :Marketing Basics for Beginners". Captions/Alt Text would be key words like “marketing basics", or "marketing strategies for beginners". Body text would include keywords throughout with explanations and examples to boost readability and SEO.
Learning something new like marketing doesn’t have to be difficult. Understanding the roots of the process and then applying step-by-step, be creative but not complicated. There's room to grow for everyone, even the seasoned marketer. Things like trends and technology change almost daily. Use this as a guided starting point and then explore each area once you become an expert in your own right, build, tear down, build again.
